ABOUT CHEVRON CANADA – KITIMAT PROJECT 

  • Obtained a 20 – year liquified natural gas (LFG) export license to produce 10 – million-metric-tonnes or liquified natural gas per year 
  • Received support from Gitga’at First Nations tribe
  • Promises to be the most eco-friendly LFG plant in history 
  • Plans to offer the Gitga’at First Nations peoples jobs and onsite training

GITGA’AT FIRST NATIONS TRIBE

  • Occupied the land for the last 1000 years 
  • Signed an extensive agreement that holds Chevron Canada responsible for any damages to their land
  • Will receive 30 million dollars across the span of 20 years
  • The first agreement Indigenous peoples of Canada have signed  

HOW THE KITIMAT PROJECT WILL STAY ENVIROMENTALLY FRIENDLY 

  • Signed an agreement with Environment Canada that holds Chevron Canada accountable for any and all environmental effects they may cause 
  • Chevron Canada acknowledges the importance of wildlife to the Indigenous culture and plans to safely relocate any wildlife
  • Will assist with any cost affected by the relocation of wildlife
